Longtime, active parishioner of First Congregational Church of Waterbury
WATERBURY – Diane E. (Lake) Mason, age 90, passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2023, in the comfort of her home. She was the widow of E. Phillip Mason who passed in 2011.
Diane was born on May 9, 1932 in Providence RI, the daughter of the late Llewellyn and Grace (Apley) Lake. Diane was raised in Cranston, RI, where she attended school and later married Phil. They had two children before moving to Waterbury in 1959 where they later had their third child. Diane was a longtime parishioner of the First Congregational Church of Waterbury. There she was a Nursery School teacher and Sunday School teacher and participated in every activity the church had for the past sixty years. She was truly a pillar of her church community. She was a kind, compassionate, patient, and loving woman who treasured her role as wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, painting, and crafts of all kinds. Diane will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her children; her son, Phillip Mason (Kim) of Boynton Beach FL, and daughters, Pam Albon (Tom) of Middlebury and Joanne Mason with whom Diane made her home. She also leaves her grandchildren; Matthew (Carla) Albon and Eric Albon and her beloved, great grandson, Mason Albon as well as her sister G. Audrey (Stewart) Davis of The Villages, FL and two nieces and one nephew.
