THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY OF JANE (Baker) STURGES
WATERBURY CT - Jane B. Sturges, formerly of Rockledge Dr. Waterbury, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2017, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family, at Regal Care Center of Waterbury after an extended illness. She was the widow of Howard Sturges Sr.
Jane was born July 5, 1923 in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late John and Anna (Coleman) Baker. She was educated in local schools and spent many years working as a secretary at Scovill Manufacturing. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crocheting and was an avid bowler and a member of the Sena's Bowling Alley, East Mountain League. Jane was also a member of the Children of Mary and a parishioner of Saint Anthony's Church. Jane will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
Jane is survived by her three sons, Howard Sturges Jr. and his wife, Denise of Middlebury, John Sturges and his wife, Phyllis of Oakville, and Steven Sturges and his wife, Pamela of Prospect. She also leaves her brothers; Mark Baker of Prospect, and Warren Baker of Waterbury, her sisters, Ann Nichols of LA. and Karen Malz of NH. In addition, she leaves behind eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Jack and Ronnie Baker and Grace Vail.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Sturges will be held on Monday, December 4th, 2017 at 10:00 am when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Anthony's Church,
Prospect CT. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with Jane's family on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial, 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd Waterbury. To honor Jane's memory, donations may be made to Saint Anthony's Church, 4 Union City Rd, Prospect, CT 06712.
