WATERBURY - Janet Cosgrove Curry, 67, of Waterbury passed away peacefully at St. Mary's Hospital surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, October 12, 2017. She was the beloved wife of Mark J. Curry.
Janet was born on June 20, 1950 in Waterbury, daughter of the late John (Toby) Cosgrove and Maureen (Casey) Cosgrove. She graduated from SS. Peter and Paul Grammar School and Waterbury Catholic High School in Waterbury. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Central CT State University and her Master's Degree in Administration from Sacred Heart University. She worked for SS. Peter and Paul School in Waterbury for 29 years, working as a teacher, Vice Principal and Principal. She retired in 2016 but continued her involvement with the school by serving on the Parish School Board. She was a dedicated communicant of SS. Peter and Paul Church and served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years. Jan's heart was in SS. Peter and Paul School and the kids that passed through its doors. Although she became an administrator in her later years, in her heart and soul she would always be a teacher. Each and every child that attended SSPP was one of hers, and she loved and was so proud of them all. Jan also loved to travel with her family, with her favorite places being Cape Cod and Saratoga, NY. She loved cruising and she went on many cruises with family and friends throughout the years. She was a diehard NY Yankees and Green Bay Packers fan, and loved to cheer on her team.
In addition to her devoted husband of 40 years, Jan leaves her son, Tobin J. Curry of Waterbury and her daughter, Megan Charette and her husband, Christopher Charette of Wolcott. "Grammy" will be fondly remembered by her granddaughters, Savannah and Olivia Charette. She also leaves her sister, Marsha Damiani and her husband, Donald Damiani of Cheshire and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services for Jan will be held on Monday, October 16, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. from Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd Waterbury to SS. Peter and Paul Church, 67 Southmayd Rd Waterbury to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in New Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with Jan's family on Sunday evening from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
