THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY JOHN BAPTISTE LeVasseur III

Affectionately known as "Puppa Kodak"

OAKVILLE- John Baptiste LeVasseur III age 71 of Oakville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday August 25th 2020 at home surrounded by the love and comfort of his family after a strong and courageous battle of pancreatic cancer. He was the husband of Janet (Benton) LeVesseur.

John was born June 3rd 1949 in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late John Baptiste LeVasseur Jr. and Margaret (Pirone) LeVasseur. John was a graduate of Watertown High School and proudly served his country with the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War Era. After being honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant, John began working for A.J. Oster in Watertown where he spent many years until his retirement as a manager of the brass and copper industry. He was a lifelong member of the Oakville V.F.W. #7330 and enjoyed fishing and playing cribbage. John had an affinity for photography and took so many pictures that he wore the button off his camera and was affectionately nicknamed Puppa Kodak by his grandkids, who were the love of his life and were in constant focus of his view finder. John was a loyal customer at the Red White and Blue shop and was always looking for great deal. John was a true patriot and was always happiest while spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was always willing to help another family or friend in need at any given time. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.

John's family would like to thank and acknowledge the staff at the West Haven VA Oncology Department, and the nurses and staff at Seasons Hospice for their love, compassion and care of John and his family during his illness.

Left to honor and cherish John's legacy, besides his wife Janet of 47 years are his sons; John Baptiste LeVasseur IV of Oakville, and Jaime LeVasseur and his wife, Jennifer of Watertown. John and Janet were blessed with 3 devoted grandchildren; Tyler, Samantha, and Rylee who were the love of John's life. He also leaves his sisters; Denise Codianna of Oakville, Lea Palombo and her husband, Bob of Watertown, Cindy Canuzzi and her husband, Al of Oakville and Deanna DiChiello of New London. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Fray.

A funeral service with full military honors will be held for Mr. LeVasseur graveside, on Tuesday September 1st at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Olivet Cemetery Platt Rd Watertown. All Covid 19 restrictions will be strictly enforced. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the cemetery and are asked to wear Red White and Blue colors to honor John's love for his country.
