Ms. Mary "Josie" Barlow

WATERBURY – Mary “Josie” Josephine (Barnaby) Barlow, age 76 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 20th, 2023, in the hospice unit of Waterbury Hospital surrounded by the love and comfort of her family.

Mary was born on the Eel Ground Reservation in New Castle, New Brunswick, Canada on July 13, 1946. She was the daughter of the late Bridgette Barnaby. Josie touched many lives while living in the Pearl Lake Community. What was most important to her was spending quality time with her family. She adored her grandchildren and enjoyed just sitting on the front porch watching the neighborhood children play. Josie spent countless hours playing cards and Scrabble as well as cooking big meals for her family and friends. Some of her favorite meals included her delicious tacos as well as her year-round turkey dinners. Josie loved playing Sorry, Trouble, Scrabble and cards with her grandchildren and friends. She will be greatly missed by all.

Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her sons; Alison “Poncho” Barlow, Robert Barlow, Leon Jason (Anna Lisa) Barlow, all of Waterbury, and Galen Barlow of New Hampshire, and grandchildren; Gianna, Nathaniel, Alexandra, Justin, Jennica, Joseph, and Brandon and great-grandchildren. Josie was predeceased by her son, Joseph Morris Barlow and daughter, Susan Barlow.

Funeral services for Mary "Josie" Barlow will be held on Monday, June 26, 2023, at 6:30 PM at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury, CT. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may visit with the Barlow family on Monday from 5:00 PM until the service commences at 6:30PM.
