BETHLEHEM - Matthew S. Kosky, age 68 of Bethlehem, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Waterbury Hospital after a sudden health issue with his heart. He was the husband of Holly DiDomizio Kosky.
Matthew was born on October 29, 1947 in Waterbury, the son of the late Matthew and Genevieve (Mendyka) Kosky. He was raised in Waterbury and lived there until moving to Bethlehem thirty years ago. He graduated from Crosby High School and Quinnipiac University. Matthew worked for many years at Connecticut Housing Investment Fund as a loan originator until his retirement. He had many hobbies which included taking meticulous care of his yard and everything else he possessed. At times he was known as "Felix" by his friends who knew how well he liked to care for his yard, his barn, his wine collection and everything else he owned, right down to his clothes, hats and shoes of which he had many. Matthew loved boating, fishing, collecting duck decoys, collecting wine, shopping and doing fun things with his wife, cooking and eating, He loved spending time with his nieces, nephews and Godchildren and his feline companion, Jethro. Most of all, he loved enjoying a glass of wine and a meal he cooked with his many friends in his most loved place.... his "wine barn".
Matthew leaves to mourn his loss his wife of 30 years, Holly DiDomizio Kosky, many cousins including, Bob (Ellen) Batters, Carolyn Fontaine, Roger (Pam) Fontaine Jr. and Donald Kosakowski. He also leaves his brothers and sisters in-law, Thomas (Joanne) DiDomizio, Teddy (Karen) DiDomizio, and Dora DiDomizio. He leaves his many beloved nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and Godchildren. He also leaves many dear friends who he enjoyed having lunch with and entertaining and just talking with, especially Guy (Carol) Russo, his best friend of over 50 years and Tom Belanger. He also leaves his favorite Feline, Jethro. Besides his parents, Matthew was predeceased by his special Aunts, Helen Shanosky and Helen (George) Urban and many additional Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. He was also pre-deceased by his brothers -in-law Richard DiDomizio and Bernie DiDomizio, sister-in-law Eva DiDomizio and his nephews, Tommy DiDomizio, Mitchell Vitali and many beloved animal companions. Matthew will be loved and missed forever.
Funeral Services for Mr. Kosky will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at 11:00 a.m.at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd. Waterbury. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury. Friends and relatives may visit with Matthew's family at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 9:00 until the service at 11:00 a.m. To honor Matthews memory, donations may be made to the St. Judes Children Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105
