Mr. Adam "Chunky" Soares

WATERBURY - With profound sadness and broken hearts, the family of Adam J. “Chunky” Soares, age 60 of Waterbury, announce his passing on Friday, May 3, 2024, at St Mary’s Hospital. 

Chunky was born on August 10, 1963 in Brooklyn NY, the son of the late Joseph Soares and Maria L. Gomes of Waterbury. He was educated in local schools and at the time of his passing was working as a driver for Curtin Motor Livery.  Prior to that, he was employed as an agent for National Recovery Services and Reymond Bakery.  Chunky enjoyed being an integral part of his community, both through the greater Waterbury political scene as well as at the Cape Verdean Social Club. What was the most important part of Chunky’s life though, was everything about family, his children, brothers and sisters and many friends. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him. 

Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory, are his children; Erica Soares and Jose Carlos both of Waterbury and Ashley Baron of Waterbury and Kemely and Norm Finke of Atlanta. He also leaves his siblings; brother, Fidel Soares, sisters; Diana Deleo and Joseph Donahue, Elizabeth Santiago, Lillian Soares and Dana and Rayshawn Camp as well as two stepbrothers; Henrique Silva and Joey Soares. He also leaves his former wife of many years, Helena Fonseca and 7 grandchildren; Francis, Noah, Jonah, Max, Logan, Adililah and Ezra and many close friends and extended family members. 

Funeral services for Mr. Soares will be held on Monday, May 13, 2024, at noon at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care 1987 East Main St Waterbury CT. Burial will be held at the convenience of his family. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Chunky’s family on Monday morning from 10:00 until the service at 12 noon.
