WATERBURY - Mrs. Adele J. Purdy , age 88 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully beside her husband of 64 years, Edgar Purdy on October 1, 2014.
Adele was born September 21, 1926 in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Nicholas and Frances (Tomasunas) Lipnicki. Adele was a retired employee of Consolidated Industries. She was a member of VFW Post 8075 in Prospect and the American Legion Post 195 in Oakville. Adele enjoyed golf, yard work and spending time with the family. Adele and her husband were longtime members of SS Peter & Paul Church as well as parishioners of St. Leo the great
Besides her husband Adele is survived by two sisters, Alberta Grochowski of Southington and Elaine Lavorgna of Waterbury as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Mildred LaFlamme and her husband Sonny, Margaret Podzunas and her husband Albert and her brothers in law, Stanly Grochowski and Danta Lavorgna.
Funeral services for Mrs. Purdy will be held on Saturday October 4, 2014 at 10:00 am from Eastside Memorial, "A Casey Family Funeral Home & Tribute Center" 1987 East Main St. Waterbury to SS Peter & Paul Church 67 Southmayd Rd Waterbury to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with Adele's family on Saturday morning from 9:00 till 10:00am. .
