WATERBURY - Adele Helen (Habib) Wihbey, age 94, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 15th 2019 at the Apple Rehabilitation Center in Watertown, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family after a brief illness. She was the widow of Francis Wihbey who passed in 2010.

Adele was born February 20, 1925 in Waterbury CT, the daughter of the late Thomas and Zakia (Aoun) Habib. She was a lifelong Waterbury resident and a graduate of Wilby High School, Class of 1942. Adele spent over 60 years working alongside her husband in their family business, Wihbey's Market originally on North Main Street and then later on Frost Road in Waterbury. Adele was proud of her Lebanese heritage and was a long time active parishioner of Our Lady of Lebanon Church, where she received the 2014 Service Award. She also enjoyed the privilege of being honored as the Lebanese Mayor of Day for the City of Waterbury and was an active member of the Ehden Lebanese Club in Wolcott. What was most important to Adele was her family and she was always happiest while spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Adele will be greatly missed by all those who were blessed to know and love her.

Adele is survived by her children; Elaine Clausen and her husband, Ronald of Andover, MA, Diane McQueeney and her husband, Thomas of Ansonia, and Elizabeth Majewski and her husband, Mark of Wolcott, George Wihbey and his wife, April of Waterbury, Francis Wihbey of Branford, Michael Wihbey and his companion, Kim Demsey of Watertown, In addition, she leaves her sister, Lila Ciarlo of Waterbury, her sister in law, Barbara Wihbey of Middlebury and her grandchildren Melissa Fenstermaker, Megan Scaglione, Kelly Lengyel, Heather Majewski, Audra Majewski, Erica Clausen, Brittany Bartlett, Francis Wihbey II and 8 great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Our special thanks to her caregiver and friend Enam Eid Bousaada. She was predeceased by her siblings, Peter Habib and Mary Jo Coddington.

Funeral services for Mrs. Wihbey will be held on Monday, May 20, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lebanon Church 8 East Mountain Rd.Waterbury, CT. There will be visitation at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the service at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with Adele's family on Sunday, May 19, 2019 from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd. Waterbury. Both Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Maiorano Funeral Home have been afforded the privilege and honor to assist the Wihbey family with all of their funeral arrangements.
