THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY OF AGNES CAFFREY
WATERBURY - Agnes A. (Griffin) Caffrey, age 94 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, December 4, 2018 with her sons by her side at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit of St. Marys Hospital after a brief illness. She was the widow of Leo J. Caffrey Sr.
Mrs. Caffrey was born on September 14, 1924 in Waterbury CT, the daughter of the late Dennis and Nora (McKenna) Griffin. She was educated in local schools and besides being a dedicated wife and mother for all of her life, she worked at St. Marys Hospital as a Switchboard Operator for over 20 years. Agnes was deeply spiritual and prayed the rosary every single day. She loved life to the fullest through the simple pleasures of life. She was extremely proud of her Irish Heritage and would often volunteer to be the vocalist at family events singing all the Irish favorites. Agnes loved old movies and despite her declining memory she could recite every old movie line, the actor or actress and the film highlights. She was a longtime parishioner of St Francis Xavier Church and will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
Agnes is survived by her sons; Leo J.Caffrey Jr, DVM of Waterbury and Dennis Caffrey, MD and his wife, Margaret of Prospect, her grandchildren; Bettina, Seth Caffrey and Jana (Caffrey) Weitzman, her great grandchildren Julian Caffrey and Silas Weitzman and her devoted personal care aide, Marsha Bryant.
Funeral services for Mrs. Caffrey will be held on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. from Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St. Waterbury to St Francis Xavier Church to celebrate a Mass of Christian burial at 12 noon. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with Agnes' family on Thursday evening from 5:00 till 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
