OAKVILLE - Mr. Albert J.. Zaccaria, age 85 of Oakville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at St. Marys Hospital after an extended illness. He was the husband of the late Ann (Slason) Zaccaria.
Albert was born on April 19, 1931 in Waterbury, the son of the late James and Clelia (Zaccaria) Zaccaria. He was educated in local schools, graduated from Watertown High School in 1949 where he excelled in soccer, basketball, baseball and track. He attended both AIC in Springfield and the University of Connecticut and he was a longtime employee of NCR where he worked as a Technician to install and maintain cash registers and ATM equipment. Albert was an avid golfer and was honored to have received the Gold Star Award from the Water Oak Assoc. He was active in both the Oakville VFW and Watertown American Legion and he was a parishioner of St. Mary Magdalen Church.
Albert is survived by his grandson, Gabriel Zaccaria in addition to several nephews and nieces that he was especially close with. He was predeceased by his son, Donald P. Zaccaria. Albert's family would like to acknowledge and thank, the Staff of St Mary's Hospital and Xavier 3 especially, Drs. Kakowski and Matsuo as well as the staff at Wolcott View Manor, especially, Tanisha and Kim.
Funeral services for Mr. Zaccaria will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2017 when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalen Church. Those planning to attend are asked to go directly to the church. Burial will follow in Mt Olivet Cemetery in Watertown. There are no calling hours.
