THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY OF ALBERT LALIBERTE
Albert Laliberté of Surfside Beach, SC passed away on August 14th, 2019.
He was born on June 9, 1933 in Waterbury, CT, the son of Leonel and Cecile (Hamelin) Laliberté.
Albert graduated from St. Anne School and attended Leavenworth High School in Waterbury and graduated from Technical Career Institute. He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Anne Church.
After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1955, Albert worked for several companies in the Waterbury area, notably Baldwin Manufacturing, where he met his future bride, Cappello Home Improvement, Knudsen Dairy, Uniroyal, Tech Systems, and finally retiring from Plasma Coatings in 2000; all the while running his own home improvement business on the side. After retiring, he moved to Surfside Beach, SC.
Additionally, Albert devoted countless hours to community service. He served as Director of Sports for St. Anne Parish, coaching boys' baseball and basketball and girls' softball and basketball. He was one of the founding members of the St. Anne Athletic and Scholarship Association, which raised funds to provide annual scholarships to parish athletes and to purchase sports equipment for all the parish teams. Additionally, he coached Pop Warner Football for 17 years with the Waterbury Knights organization, where his teams earned 13 division titles and 3 state championships.
In 1998, Albert was honored by the Waterbury Sportsmen's Club for his 25 plus years of dedication to the youth of Waterbury.
Albert was a lifetime member of the St. Anne Holy Name Society, worked as Treasurer of the Legion of Mary, and served as a Eucharistic Minister. The honor of Waterbury Franco American Mayor for the Day was bestowed upon Albert on June 24, 1992.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Florence Laliberté, and three children, Donald Laliberté (Sandra), of Thomaston, CT, Mary Ann Zarrella (John), of Bethlehem, CT, and Richard Laliberté (Mary), of Southington, CT, and three grandchildren, Christine Cipriani, Matthew Zarrella, and Michael Zarrella. He also leaves two brothers, Rene Laliberté of Waterbury and Gerard Laliberté (Carmela) of Murrells Inlet, SC; Albert was predeceased by three brothers, Normand, Robert, and Raymond Laliberté. He leaves behind four sisters-in-law, Jeannine Laliberté, Patricia Laliberté, Doris (Robert) Jegela and Jeannette Laliberté; 3 brothers in law, Robert Noel of TX, Donald (Laura) Noel of SC and Leo (Jeanne) Noel of TX. He also leaves behind more than twenty nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Laliberté will be held on Friday, September 27, 2019. Relatives and friends may visit with Mr. Laliberté's family from 5:00-7:00 PM at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home, 1987 East Main Street @ Southmayd Road, Waterbury, CT 06705.
