Albert Adam Steinis - age 79 of Riverside Street Oakville, died March 29th at Waterbury Hospital after a brief illness he was the husband of Josephine (Varrone) Steinis.
Mr. Steinis was born December 24th 1929 in Waterbury, a son of the late Albert and Claire (Podsiadlik) Steinis. Raised in Oxford he attended Oxford Grammar School and was a graduate of Seymour High School. He served in the Ansonia National Guard and the US Army during the Korean War and was employed by Tech Systems in Thomaston where he worked as a machinist for many years before his retirement. As a resident of Oakville for 52 years he served as assistant Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of American Troop 1 in Waterbury, was a member of the American Legion post 0022 in Thomaston and was a parishioner of Saint Mary Magdalen Church. He was a classic car enthusiast and spent endless hours repairing and restoring many cars.
Besides his beloved wife Josephine of 56 1/2 years he is survived by his son Albert Anthony Steinis and his wife Karen, of Waterbury, two daughters Joanne Sforza and her husband Victor of Oakville, Darlene Steinis of Oakville, a brother Robert J Steinis and his wife Janice of Bethany, a sister Florence Doiron and her husband Edwin of Beacon Falls, his two cherished grandsons Daniel and Christopher Sforza of Oakville, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Steinis will be held on Wednesday April 1st at 10:00 am from the O'Neill Funeral Home 742 Main St. to Saint Mary Magdalen Church, 145 Buckingham Street Oakville for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Burial with military honors will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Watertown. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 45 Ash St. East Hartford, CT 06108.
