WATERBURY - Alderman Frank A. Burgio age 78 of Waterbury, passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at home, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. He was the devoted husband of Joan (McGuigan) Burgio.
Frank was born in Waterbury CT on October 27, 1938, the son of the late Michael and Josephine (Tirendi) Burgio. He was educated in local schools and was employed for many years at Ketchum Industries and then as a CT State Marshall assigned to both Waterbury and New Haven. Frank was an elected Alderman for the City of Waterbury currently serving in his 14th year. He also served the City in various capacities and as a Police and Fire Commissioner. A devout Catholic, Frank was a longtime member of SS Peter & Paul Church was an avid sports fan of both the Boston Red Sox and NY Giants and enjoyed his trips to the casinos. He will be sadly missed by his loving family and by all who knew and loved him.
Besides his wife Joan, he leaves four sons, Frank A Burgio Jr and his girlfriend Mary Rinaldi of Cheshire, Kenneth J. Burgio of CA, Robert D. Burgio and his girlfriend Michelle Kasparian of Wolcott and Michael A Burgio of Waterbury, his daughter, Robin Davignon of Southington and his step sons; Ralph and Peter Singer. He also leaves his beloved grandchildren; Jennifer, Raymond, Stacy, Sarah, Ashley, Edward, Ricky, Danny, Michael Jr, Tony, Robert, Domenic, Nicholas, Ralph, Carissa, Jacob and Jade and 8 great grandchildren and his faithful forever friend, Carlito. He was predeceased by his son-in-law Thomas Davignon.
Funeral services for Alderman Burgio will be held on Friday, November 11, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at SS Peter & Paul Church 67 Southmayd Rd. Waterbury. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to go directly to the church. Burial will be held at the convenience of his family Relative and friends may visit with Alderman Burgio's family on Thursday, November 10, 2016 from 4:00 till 7:00 p.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St Waterbury.
