THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY OF ALDINA GONCALVES
WATERBURY Aldina (Sousa) Goncalves, age 85, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 3, 2020 at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit at Saint Mary's Hospital surrounded by the love and comfort of her family after a brief illness. She was the widow of Joao Goncalves.
Aldina was born February 15th 1934 in Monteiros Portugal the daughter of the late Jose Joaquin & Emilia (Goncalves) Sousa. She emigrated to the United States in 1976 and spent many years working at the Waterbury Neckwear Company until her retirement in 1996. Aldina was devoted to her family and her faith, she was an active daily parishioner at Our Lady of Fatima Church and was always happiest while spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. Aldina enjoyed gardening, watching after her grandchildren, and cooking. Aldina always looked forward to Easter when she would gather with her grandchildren to bake Easter breads. She will be sadly missed by all who where blessed to know and love her.
Left to cherish her memories and honor Aldina's love and legacy are her children; Joao Manuel Goncalves and his wife; Lourdes, Joao Carlos Goncalves and his wife; Rosanna, Joao Antonio Goncalves, her daughters; Isolina Dinis and her husband, Alcino, and Maria "Lana" Goncalves, all of Waterbury. In addition, she also leaves her 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members. Aldina's family would like to extend and acknowledge their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at both Abbott Terrace Healthcare Center and Vitas Innovative Care at St Mary's Hospital for the love and care they shared with both Aldina and her family throughout her illness.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Goncalves will be held on Tuesday, January 7th 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church 2071 Baldwin St Waterbury Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery Spring Lake Rd Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with Aldina's family on Monday, January 6th 2019 from 5:00 till 7:00 p.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd Waterbury CT 06705.
