ALFRED P. LAPORTE
OAKVILLE- Alfred P. Laporte, 82 of Buckingham Street died Monday September 24th at Watertown Convalarium after a brief illness.
Alfred was born April 18, 1925 in New Bedford, Mass. a son of the late Paul and Rose (Forand) Laporte and moved to Waterbury in 1929 and to Oakville in 1942. He was a graduate of Saint Ann's Grammar School and Crosby High School in Waterbury. Prior to his retirement in 1989, he was employed as a Manager at the first Finast Supermarket in Waterbury where he worked for many years. He also owned and operated the former Al's Market on Davis Street. Alfred proudly served his country as a U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran of WWII who served in the Pacific Theatre in the Wake Islands and also in Guam and was a charter member of the V.F.W. Post 7330 in Oakville. He was a communicant of Saint Mary Magdalen Church.
He leaves a brother, Paul E. Laporte Jr. and his wife Rosemarie of Waterbury, two sisters Cecile Desjardins of Oakville, Sister Blanche Laporte CND of Bronx, NY, several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
Funeral Saturday, September 29, 2007 at 10:15 a.m. from the O'Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main Street to Saint Mary Magdalen Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until leaving for church.
