WATERBURY - Alfred Santos age 79 of Waterbury passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, October 19, 2018 at St. Mary s Hospital. He was the devoted husband of the late Dorothy (Michaud) Santos to whom he was wed for 51 wonderful years.

Alfred was born October 24, 1938 in Waterbury the son of the late Abel and Virginia (LaRosa) Dos Santos. He was educated in local schools and was a veteran of the U.S. Army and proudly served his country during the Korean War. Alfred retired after 27 years working as a Supervisor at New Departure of Bristol and then went on to work at Post University as head groundskeeper. He was an avid bowler, loved the NY Yankees and Washington Redskins and enjoyed playing the accordion and the organ. Most of all he cherished his wife and children. He was all about family. His personality was larger than life and he will greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.

Among his survivors are his children; Daughters, Deborah Szarzynski and her husband, Mark, Patricia Padua, Kim Marie Olan and her husband Alcides and sons; Alfred Santos Jr and his partner, Elizabeth Zibell, and Paul Santos. He also leaves his cherished 12 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, brothers, Leo and Anthony Santos and his sister, Emily Stevens as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Abel Dos Santos, August and Joseph Santos and his sister, Rose Santos as well as his son in law, Ralph Padua.

Funeral services for Mr Santos will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at SS Peter & Paul Church 67 Southmayd Rd Waterbury at 9:00 a.m. Burial with full military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with Alfred's family on Monday evening from 5:00 till 8:00 pm. To honor Alfred's memory, donations to Alzheimer Association 225 N.
