AT THE CASEY - O'DONNELL FAMILY FUNERAL HOME - WATERBURY CT. Mrs. Alice H. Kelly, of Plank Rd Waterbury died Tuesday at Elim Park Rehab Center in Cheshire, just 2 days short of her ninetieth birthday. She was the widow of Edward J. Kelly who passed away in 1997.
Mrs. Kelly was born April 14, 1921 in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Alexander and Lydia (Sloboda) Hurduk. She was educated in local schools and was a stay at home Mom who cared for her parents. Alice was outgoing, loved and lived life to the fullest. Alice was passionate about golf, reading and shopping. She was an avid golfer and member of the "Sunshine Girls", the East Mountain Ladies Golf League. She was a member of the Sheriden Council, Waterbury Columbiettes. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Loreto Church.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Nancy DeVylder and her husband Robert of Cheshire, her grandson Robert and his wife Sheila, granddaughters, Elizabeth and Kyle Ann DeVylder as well as her 2 great grandchildren, Lindsey and Sean. She also leaves several nieces and nephews including Barbara Hallinan with whom Alice was especially close. Alice was predeceased by her sisters, Olga Fetbroth and Anne Hallinan. Alice's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to her special friend, Mary Beamon and to the special staff at Elim Park for the special care and attention they provided to Alice during her stay there.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Kelly will be held on Monday, April 18, 2010 at 9:00a.m. from the Casey-O'Donnell Family Funeral Home 1581 East Main St, Waterbury to Our Lady of Loreto Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am. Burial will follow in New St. Joseph's Cemetery, Waterbury. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Sunday from 3:00-5:00pm. Memorial donations in Mrs. Kelly's memory may be made to the CT Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd. Newington CT 06111.
