AT THE O'NEILL FUNERAL HOME - Alice B. (Drescher) Stephen, age 75, of Falls Ave. Oakville, died Thursday at Waterbury Extended Care in Watertown. She was the wife of Norman M. Stephen.
Alice was born February 28, 1933 in Waterbury, a daughter of the late John and Nellie (Jeannin) Drescher and was a lifelong Oakville resident. Alice was a graduate of Watertown Schools and earned her BA from Central Connecticut State University and her Masters Degree in Education from UConn. Prior to her retirement in 1995, she was employed as a 2nd grade teacher at the former Griffin School. Alice enjoyed swimming, exercising at the YMCA and ceramics and was a member of the Ladies Red Hat Society. She was a member of Union Congregational Church.
Besides her husband of 51 years of Oakville, she leaves a son Kent G. Stephen and his wife Mary of Cape Elizabeth, ME., a brother John "Jack" Drescher DDS of Morris, four grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews. She was predeceased by a son Mark N. Stephen.
Calling hours for Mrs. Stephen will be held on Sunday afternoon, July 13, 2008 from 2 -4 pm. A memorial service and burial will be held at a date and time to be announced. .In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Union Congregational Church, 161 Buckingham Street, Oakville, CT 06779.
