"Big Al"
WATERBURY - Alvin Michael Pescetelli age 78 of Waterbury, formerly of Oakville died May 3, 2014 at his home with his loving family at his side. He was the husband of Joan (Pierce) Pescetelli.
Al was born July 22, 1935 in Old Forge, PA., a son of the late John and Margaret (Maranelli) Pescetelli and lived in Waterbury and Oakville most of his life. He was a graduate of South School in Oakville and Sacred Heart High School class of 1954. Prior to his retirement in 1995, Al was employed as a sheet metal worker at Leo J. Hamel Inc. where he worked for many years. Al was an avid duckpin bowler and enjoyed bocce, traveling, playing set back and nightly socials with Jim Stemm; however his greatest joy came from spending time with his family and grandchildren. Al proudly served his country in the US Navy. He was a member of the Lega Siciliana Social Club and a communicant of Our Lady of Loreto Church.
Besides his wife of almost 56 years of Waterbury, he leaves two sons Mark Pescetelli of Waterbury, David Pescetelli and his wife Eileen of Wolcott, three daughters Cheryl Varney and her husband Michael of Clovis, NM., Susan DiMaria of Torrington, Patricia McCarthy and her husband William of Waterbury, a brother David Pescetelli and his wife Joan of Cheshire, fifteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the O'Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main Street Oakville to Our Lady of Loreto Church to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10. Rites of committal will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery Watertown. Relatives and friends may visit with Al's family on Tuesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
