"Handy Andy"
WATERBURY - Andrew M. Boucher age 77, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by the love and comfort of his family on June 14, 2020 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was the beloved husband of Janet (Schum) Boucher for 52 years.
Andrew was born on January 27, 1943 in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late Arthur and Sarah (Dugre) Boucher. He was a graduate of Crosby High School and proudly served his country with the US Army Reserve and was a member of the Waterbury Boys Club Alumni. Andy started his working career at Somers Thin Strip, Waterbury. He retired as Manager of Customer Services of Northeast Utilities after 33 years of service and later worked for Graham's Florist and Showcase Realty. Andy was a car enthusiast who enjoyed working on antique and classic cars. He was a fan of Nascar racing and enjoyed watching UConn Women's basketball. "Handy Andy" was always willing to lend a helping hand to family, friends and neighbors.
Left to cherish his memories and honor his love and legacy, besides his wife, Janet are his 3 sons; Steven Boucher, Scott Boucher, and Matthew Boucher and his wife, Megan, his 2 brothers; Raymond & Roger (Denise), 2 sisters; Rita (Roland) Dupre and Dorothy Cantillon, sisters-in-law Sandra (Maurice), Monique; 2 granddaughters; Stephanie and Quinn; 2 great-granddaughters; Piper and Remi, along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by his 2 brothers Camille and Maurice, his sister Doris Blinstrubas and her husband Walter, and his sister-in-law Rita.
The Boucher family would like to thank and acknowledge Dr. Katoch and all the staff at the Leever Center and Vitas Hospice Health Care for the loving care and support they provided to Andy and his family during his illness.
Funeral services for Mr. Boucher will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2020 at 1:00pm from Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd Waterbury to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 1:30 p.m. Burial with full military honors will follow in New Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Family and friends may visit with Andy's family, complying with all applicable social distancing guidelines on Thursday from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the funeral home. Please wait outside until instructed to enter the funeral home by staff members.
