Ms. Ann Bartosavage

December 20, 1931 — October 30, 2023

Devoted to her family and her faith

WATERBURY– Ann (Volpe) Bartosavage, age 91, of Waterbury, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2023, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family at Yale New Haven Hospital.

Ann was born on December 20, 1931, in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late Albert and Anna (Varca) Volpe. She attended local schools and went on to work as a telephone operator for many years at SNET and then a telecommunications operator dispatcher at the Waterbury Police Department. When Ann turned 70, she got her CNA license to help care for those in need. When she was not working, Ann enjoyed taking trips to the casino, and helping anyone locally that may have needed a hand or friend, but what she enjoyed the most was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren both here in CT and in TX, even making a most recent trip to Texas at the age of 91. She treasured the special moments and adventures that she had with her loved ones. Ann was very fond of music and dancing and all of her friends would say she was the life of the party at every gathering. She was a woman of great faith and a longtime parishioner of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception which she had a special place in her heart for. Ann was exceptional in many ways but what she excelled at was being a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.

Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memories are her children; Joanne Melzow of Dallas, Texas, Joseph (Sandra) Bartosavage, and Linda (Neil) Hamel. Ann was blessed with five grandchildren, Michael (Zamira) Melzow, Alisha (Jacob) Perry, Joseph Bartosavage, Lisa (Kenneth) Rein, and Brian Hamel and three great grandchildren, Makayla Melzow, Kenneth Rein and Faith Rein. She also leaves her sister, Janet Alvarez of Aubrey, Texas, along with nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Besides her parents Ann was predeceased by her siblings, Lena Main, Rose Festa, Ella Aureli, Joseph Volpe, Emily Testa, and Armand Volpe.

Ann’s family would like to thank and acknowledge those who cared for her during her illness, Glendale Orthopedic Rehab, the staff at Yale ICU and Vitas Hospice Care for all of the love and care that they shared with Ann and her family.

Funeral services for Ann will be held privately at the convenience of her family. She will be laid to rest with her family in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. To honor Ann's memory and in lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org , would be appreciated by the Bartosavage family.
