AT THE CASEY-O'DONNELL FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, WATERBURY - WOLCOTT CT. Mrs. Ann (Hyland) Donahue, age 76, of Todd Rd. Wolcott, died Tuesday at Yale New Haven Hospital after an extended illness. She was the wife of Kenneth Donahue.
Mrs. Donahue was born March 20, 1934 in Waterbury, the daughter of the late John C. and Agnes (Gagain) Hyland. She was a graduate of Waterbury Catholic High School and began her working career as a teller at the Waterbury Savings Bank. She graduated from Post Jr. College, Medical Secretary Program and was employed for Dr. Elliot Mayo and most recently Dr. Charles Beaumont as a Medical Secretary and Assistant. Ann was actively involved in community activities in Wolcott, where she was privileged to serve as the first President and a founder of the Wolcott Jr. Womens Club and Ann was recently honored for her years of service. She also served as a member of the Wolcott Library Board as she had a true passion for reading. Above all, Ann was devoted to her family and she was happiest when they were all together, sharing good times.
Besides her devoted husband of 55 years, Ann is survived by her 2 sons; Ken Jr. and his wife Jan of Southington and John and his wife Frances of Morton IL, her brother, Rev. Edward Hyland of Wolcott and grandchildren, Gregory, Mark ,Patrick and Claire Donahue as well as several nieces and nephews, including the Rev. Aidan Donahue who will be a con-celebrant at Ann's funeral mass.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Donahue will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at 9:00am from the Casey-O'Donnell Family Funeral Home 1581 East Main St. Waterbury to Saint Pius X Church, Woodtick Rd. Wolcott for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery Waterbury. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday August 6, 2010 from 5 till 8pm. Memorial donations in Ann's memory may be made to Wolcott Public Library 469 Boundline Rd. Wolcott CT 06716.
