WATERBURY - Mrs. Ann (Dunlap) Essex, age 97 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Friday evening September 25, 2020 at the Cheshire House with her family by her side. She was the widow of Ernest Essex.
Mrs. Essex was born on April 1, 1923 in Waterbury the daughter of the late Frederick and Ellen (Fitzpatrick) Dunlap. Ann was educated in the New Haven School system and worked for many years at both W.D. Stanley Co and Timex in Middlebury. She spent most of her adult life living in Wolcott and enjoyed ten years of retirement in Spring Hill FL. Ann was a devoted parishioner of St. Leo the Great Church and enjoyed playing bingo. What was most important to Ann was her family and she was always happiest spending time with all of them. She will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
Left to honor Ann's love and legacy are her children; son Robert and his wife Eileen of Oldsmar FL and Edward and his wife Mary of Port St. Lucie FL and daughter, Judith Keating and her husband Gary of Waterbury. Ann was blessed with 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Ann was predeceased by her daughter, Linda and her sister, Mary Brennan.
Funeral services for Mrs. Essex will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2020 when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Mary Mother of the Church Parish, St Leo the Great Church Bentwood Dr Waterbury at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in New Pinegrove Cemetery. Those attending the Mass are asked to please meet directly at church. Relatives and friends may visit with Ann's family for "walk-through visitation" on Friday evening from 4:00 till 6:00 p.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services 1987 East Main St. Waterbury, CT 06705.
