AT THE CASEY-O'DONNELL FAMILY FUNERAL HOME - WATERBURY CT. Mrs. Ann C. Evans age 85, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on August 9, 2010 at home after a brief but valiant battle with cancer, She was the widow of James L. Evans
Mrs. Evans was born in Waterbury, CT. on January 5, 1925, the daughter of the late Thomas and Sarah (McMullen) Conway. She attended Leavenworth High School and worked as an assembler at Unisys for 18 years before retiring. She was a parishioner at Saints Peter and Paul Church and enjoyed playing bingo. She spent many years as a volunteer at the Saint Vincent DePaul Shelter as a member of her church group and would help in preparing and delivering meals. Ann was avid UCONN Women's basketball fan but her favorite past time was attending her grand children's, and great grandchildren's sporting events. She could always be found on the sidelines of one of their events actively cheering them on.
Ann is survived by her 2 sons, Eugene Wertman of AZ. and Mark Wertman of TN.
7 daughters; Sarah Kerestesy of OH, Denise Dunnigan of Wolcott, Margaret Harps of OH, Betty Wertman of Waterbury; Ann Maia of Waterbury; Laura Winters of OH.; and Patricia Perry of OH. 20 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, as well as many nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by her brother, Thomas Conway and her three sisters, Margaret Christian, Ruth Impronto, and Rita Milton.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Evans will be held on Friday August 13, 2010 at 9:30AM from the Casey-O'Donnell Family Funeral Home 1581 East Main St. Waterbury to Saints Peter and Paul Church 67 Southmayd Rd. Waterbury for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30AM. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 till 7pm. Memorial donations in Mrs. Evan's memory may be made to the Saint Vincent DePaul Shelter 34 Willow Street Waterbury, CT 06704.
