Ann Iannone

WATERBURY - Ann Marie (Moffo) Iannone age 89, passed away peacefully on Friday November 27, 2015 at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit of St. Mary's Hospital surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Nicholas J. Iannone.

Mrs. Iannone was born October 5, 1926 in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Salvatore and Carmella (Ursillo) Moffo of Waterbury and the village of Riccia in the Province of Campobasso, Italy. Ann was a graduate of Tinker Grammar School and Waterbury Catholic High School, Class of 1944. She was employed at CL & P and then devoted her time to caring and raising six children. In the Iannone household there was a creed; family, faith and food. As her family grew, she worked for a short while at Colonial Bank and then founded Ann's Deli, with her husband Nick, where they shared their deep love for the community. Ann always had a smile and kind word for everyone. She was renown by all; her family, neighborhood and church, for her wonderfully delicious baked goods.

Ann had a deep devotion to the Legion of Mary at MT Carmel Church before becoming an active parishioner of St. Francis Xavier for more than 50 years where she was a dedicated member of the Ladies Guild. Ann was also recognized by the Mothers Club at Holy Cross High School.

Ann is survived by her daughter, Diane Rokosky and her husband, Michael of Watertown, her five sons; Mark and his wife, Marylou of Thomaston, David and his wife, Cynthia of Middlebury, James and his wife, Lidia of Dover PA, Joseph and his wife, Heather of Prospect and Nicholas and his wife, Denise of Medfield MA. She also leaves a brother, Michael Moffo of Palm Harbor FL and a sister-in-law Carmela Palermo of Waterbury and her sixteen devoted grandchildren; Michael, Ann, Carissa (husband Alex), Christopher, Nina, Sara, Patrick, Colleen, Victoria, Matthew, Nicholas III, Brooke, Isabella, Michael Cole, Ryan and Ella. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Ann was pre-deceased by her two brothers, Nicholas and Frank Moffo.

The family would like to recognize and thank her caregivers, Maria, Lisa, Ines and Rebecca and most recently, May of Harmony Healthcare, along with the staff of Vitas Innovative Care and St. Marys Hospital for the kindhearted and gentle care they all shared with Ann during her illness.

Funeral services for Mrs. Iannone will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. from Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St Waterbury @ Southmayd Rd. Waterbury to St. Francis Xavier Church 625 Baldwin St Waterbury to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery Waterbury. Family and friends may visit with the Iannone Family on Monday evening from 4:00 till 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday morning from 9:00 till 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
