THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY OF ANNA LOPES
OAKVILLE - Anna (Zopko) Lopes, age 102, of Oakville, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 9, 2019 at the Sheridan Woods Health Care Center in Bristol after an extended illness. She was the widow of Alexandrino Lopes.
Mrs. Lopes was born February 28, 1917 in New York, NY to the late John and Mary (Schwatz) Zopko. She worked for Scovill's Manufacturing, retiring as a machine operator after 20 years of service. Anna was a parishioner of Saint Mary Magdalen Church in Oakville and was a member of the Watertown Police Benevolent Society. She enjoyed visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved to play bingo. Anna will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
Left to remember, cherish and honor Anna's memory are her daughters, Joanne Collier and her husband, Charles of New Albany, OH and Sylvia Lafreniere and her husband, Larry of Terryville. In addition, she leaves her brother, John Yablonski of Naugatuck, and her sister, Willetta Bradshaw of Oakville, as well as 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sons, Anthony S. Lopes, Richard A. Lopes; her daughter in law, Dorothy; her sisters, Julia Cross, Katherine Kean, Frances Rivers, Mary Kaminski, Pauline Owenby, Elsie Duart, brothers Harry Zopko, Joseph Yablonski.and Peter Yablonski.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lopes will be held on Tuesday August 13, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 16 Buckingham St. Oakville, CT 06779. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Watertown. Family and friends may visit with Anna's family at the church on Tuesday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at 10 a.m. The O'Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main St. Oakville, CT, has been entrusted to assist the family with arrangements.
