Waterbury - Nancy McGeever of Cornelius Ave. Waterbury, passed away at home on Tuesday February 12th 2013 surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness. She was the wife of Francis McGeever.
Mrs. McGeever was born in Waterbury CT, the daughter of the late Michael and Elizabeth (Gilligan) Killian. She was a lifelong Waterbury resident and graduated from St Mary's Grammar School and Waterbury Catholic High School. She worked as a legal secretary for several law firms in the Waterbury area before her retirement. Nancy was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother who was happiest when surrounded by her family. She was a member of the Ladies AOH and a long time parishioner of Saint Francis Xavier Church.
Besides her husband of 63 years, Nancy is survived by her children, Francis K. McGeever and his wife, Barbara of Waterbury, James McGeever and his wife, Diane of Naugatuck, Brian McGeever and his wife, Carol of Prospect; Elizabeth McGeever of Wilmington DE. and Mary Vendetti of Waterbury. She also leaves her sisters, Mary Roberger of Nashville TN, and Eileen Gibbons of Waterbury, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her brothers, James and Michael Killian and her son in law Daniel Vendetti.
Funeral services for Mrs. McGeever will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Saint Francis Xavier Church 625 Baldwin St Waterbury to celebrate the liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:30am. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church. Rites of Committal will follow in New St Joseph's Cemetery, Waterbury. There are no calling hours. The family would like to extend its deepest appreciation to the staff of the VNA Healthcare and to Elizabeth Opare for their loving care.
