WATERBURY, CT - Mrs. Anne "Edna" O'Leary, age 86 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit of St. Mary's Hospital. She was the widow of John O'Leary

Edna was born on August 7, 1929 in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Frederick and Anne (Lynch) Richmond. She was a graduate of St. Thomas Grammar School, Waterbury Catholic High School and St. Mary's School of Nursing. Edna was a dedicated registered nurse for many years, retiring as a Supervisor at Abbott Terrace Health Care. Edna was a devout Catholic and active parishioner of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception where she was involved in many activities including coordination of the Adoration of the Most Holy Eucharist, a member of the Ladies Guild and a volunteer at St. Mary's School.

Edna is survived by her beloved nieces and nephews: Michael and Joanne Killeen of Coppell TX, Ann and Dennis Hine of Gainesville FL, Patricia K. Geary of Waterbury Joseph and Edna Geary of Waterbury, Kevin and Cia Killeen of Watertown, Mary & Ed Myers of Morris Plains NJ, Christine and Gary Murphy and Nancy and Greg Bergmiller all of Bethlehem, Mayor Neil O'Leary and his wife Kathy of Waterbury, Kevin O'Leary of Waterbury, Noreen and Dennis Buckley of Watertown, Brian O'Leary of Woodbury, Maryanne and John Shay of Bluefield WV, Betsy Gignac of Watertown and Mark and Linda Richmond of Watertown, and William Cosgrove. Edna also leaves her great nephew and primary caregiver, James Geary of Waterbury, his brother, Ryan and her beloved great niece, Margaret "Maggie" O'Leary as well as many other grand nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the staff at Apple Rehab in Watertown and the staff at Vitas Innovative Care Unit of St. Mary's for the care and comfort they provided to Edna during her illness.

Funeral services for Mrs. O'Leary will be held on Thursday, September17, 2015 when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception 74 West Main St. Waterbury CT at 10:30 a.m. Those planning to attend are asked to go directly to the church. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Waterbury. There are no calling hours.
