"Devoted to her family and her faith"
OAKDALE CT - Anne Sabis Vicas, age 96 of Oakdale CT passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 21, 2021. She was the widow of Joseph with whom she shared a wonderful 67-year marriage.
Anne was born on June 14, 1925 in Waterbury CT the daughter of the late Frank Sabis and Mary Karbas Sabis. She was educated in local schools and spent the majority of her life raising and nurturing her family. Outside of the home, she was an active member of St. Joseph's parish and participated in bowling leagues, the Knights of Lithuania, Bingo, and other parish activities until she and Joe retired. She could also be spotted at Western Hills, enjoying a golf game with close friends. After moving to Oakdale, Anne immersed herself in volunteer work, sewing for children's hospitals and knitting hats, mittens and baby blankets for many local organizations, always including her beloved St. Joseph's Parish. Anne loved going to the Mohegan Sun and especially enjoyed trips there with her daughter and grandson. She was also an avid reader, and loved to cook and bake. Anne was able to see the joy and opportunity that life gave her even during the most difficult of times. She enjoyed each and every day to the fullest and she made the world a better place for all of us. What was most important to Anne throughout her life was her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. There were no trips to see Great Grandma that didn't include chocolate chip cookies and lots of hugs. Anne will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her and we are most thankful to have had her in our lives.
Left to cherish her memory and honor her legacy are her children: Michael Vicas and his wife Mary; Joseph Vicas; and Margaret Harvey and her husband Bill, with whom she made her home. Anne was blessed with two grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was also a cherished aunt to her nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and her godchildren.
