WATERBURY - Annette M. "Memere" (Chevalier) Gelinas, age 98 of Waterbury passed away peacefully at home with her daughter and grandson by her side. She was the widow of Roland Gelinas who passed in 2000.

Annette was born on September 21, 1921 in St Leon -Le-Grand from the Province of Quebec the daughter of the late Joseph and Marie Anna (Villemure) Chevalier. She worked for many years at Scovill Mfg as a machine operator but her favorite pastime was quilting and she won many awards of distinction for her handiwork. She was active in the Franco American Club in Waterbury and served as a member of the Board of Directors and Secretary for many years. Annette was most proud of her French Canadian ancestry and enjoyed making homemade recipes. Above all else Annette was devoted to her family and especially her grandchildren whom she loved to spend as much time as possible with. She will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her

Left to cherish her memories and honor her love and legacy are her children; son, Robert Gelinas and his wife, Mary of Torrington and daughter, Aline Savago of Groton and her sister, Lucille Champoux of Shawinigan Falls PDQ. Annette was blessed with four grandchildren; Dennis, Sean, David and Elise and several great grandchildren and as well as several great, great grandchildren. She was predeceased by 3 brothers and 6 sisters. The family would like to acknowledge and express their heartfelt appreciation to Vitas Hospice at Home for the love and care they shared with Annette and her family during her illness.

Funeral services for Mrs. Gelinas will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St Waterbury. Burial will follow at Mt Olivet Cemetery Watertown. Relatives and friends may visit with Annette's family on Saturday morning from 9:00 till the service at 10:30 a.m. Memories endure only if you share them so you are encouraged to leave a condolence, words of comfort or a personal memory with the Gelinas family on Annette's tribute page at www.eastsidememorial.com .
