AT THE O'NEILL FUNERAL HOME - ANTHONY S. "SONNY" CIARAMELLA age 83 of Oakville Ave., Waterbury, died Monday July 19, 2010 at Waterbury Hospital.
Sonny was born October 18, 1926 in Oakville, a son of the late Luigi and Mary (Leo) Ciaramella and lived in Waterbury most of his life. He was educated in Waterbury schools. Prior to his retirement, he was an owner, operator and partner in Watertown Plumbing and Oil where he worked for over 45 years. Sonny proudly served his country as a US Navy Veteran of WWII and as a result was awarded the WWII Victory Medal, the American Theatre Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Medal. He was a member of the Oakville V.F.W. Post 7330, a member of the N.R.A., and a member of the Waterbury gun club.
He leaves two sons; Anthony Ciaramella and Peter Ciaramella both of NY., four sisters; Violet Marino of Meriden, Nancy Ciaramella of Prospect, Rose Marie LaGasse and Theresa Nigro both of Waterbury, his dear friends Antoinette Marcucci of Watertown, Linda Bunker of Prospect, his caregiver Sean Murphy, his K9 granddaughter Madison and several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother Louis Ciaramella.
Graveside service with military honors will be held on Monday July 26 at 11 a.m. at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Watertown. There are no calling hours. The O'Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main St., Oakville has been entrusted with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to VFW Post 7330, 85 Davis Street, Oakville CT 06779.
