THOMASTON - Anthony J. Crestino, age 85 of Thomaston passed away peacefully with his family at his side at the Middlebury Convalescent Hospital after an extended illness. He was the widower of Loretta Crestino
Anthony was born in Hartford on November 4, 1932 the son of the late John and Maria (Spino) Crestino. He was educated in local schools and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Upon his discharge he first worked at Scovill Mfg. and then was a Mechanic for the United States Federal National Guard headquarters in Ansonia for over 20 years. He was forever a patriot and after his retirement he served in the team that provided final militaryhonors to veterans upon their passing. He also worked for many years at O'Neill Funeral Home. He was a parishioner of St. Thomas Church in Thomaston. Anthony will be sadly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.
Anthony leaves his daughter, Joan Mondak and her husband, Stephen of Thomaston and his two grandchildren, Stephen and Lauren Mondak. He was predeceased by his three sisters; Helen LaBrecque, Grace DeSanto and Mary Lombardi. His family would like to thank and acknowledge, Visiting Angels Home Care, Seasons Hospice and Middlebury Convalescent Hospital for the personal care and love they shared with Anthony throughout his illness.
Funeral services with full military honors for Mr. Crestino will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. from the O'Neill Funeral Home 742 Main St Oakville CT to St. Thomas Church 19 Electric Ave Thomaston to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in Mt Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. Relatives and friends may visit with Anthony's family on Thursday morning from 8:00a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
