WOLCOTT - Anthony Anastasio DMD,age 83, passed away peacefully after a brief illness at St. Mary's Hospital on Sunday June 7, 2020. He was the husband of Helen (Caparella) Anastasio.
Dr. Anastasio was born on August 6, 1936 in Waterbury, the son of the late Angelo and Angelina (Cararra) Anastasio. He was a graduate of Crosby High School and studied at the University of CT before entering Tufts Dental School in Boston, MA where he received his DMD degree in dentistry. Dr. Anastasio served two years as a Captain in the U.S. Army 5th Regiment and was stationed at Fort Sheriden,IL. He practiced dentistry in Waterbury for 37 years. For Anthony, his family was his priority, always enjoying the company of his children and grandchildren. He liked to play cards, enjoyed trips to the casino, and was an avid UCONN Women's basketball fan. He also enjoyed meeting his senior friends at the mall every morning for coffee and conversation.
Left to honor Dr Anastasio's legacy and cherish his love and memories, besides his faithful wife of 59 years, Helen are his 8 children; Richard and his wife, Cindy of Tennessee , Donna Maisto and her husband, James of Wolcott, Thomas and his wife, Karen of California, Anthony and his wife Debra of Cheshire, Joanne Riback of Watertown, Debra Potter and her husband Stuart of Maryland, Diane Nagy and her husband David of Prospect and Steven and his wife Dawn of Southington. Helen and Anthony were blessed with many grandchildren; Nicole, Stefanie, Matthew, Christopher, Emily, Rebecca, Katherine, Nicholas, Dante, Natalie, Allison, Samantha, and Fox and their precious first great granddaughter, Mina. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his half brother, Michael and his step mother, Dina Bianchi.
Funeral services for Dr. Anastasio will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2020 when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Mary Mother of the Church Parish, SS Peter and Paul Church, 67 Southmayd Rd Waterbury at 11:00 a.m. Full military honors will be accorded Dr. Anastasio immediately following the Mass. Those planning to attend are reminded that all guidelines issued by the Archdiocese will be strictly enforced. Family and friends may visit at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home on Saturday morning from 9:00 until 10:30 a.m. Phase II attendance restrictions will again be enforced. Burial will be held at the convenience of his family in Calvary Cemetery. To honor Dr Anastasio's memory, donations to; Mary Mother of the Church, S.S.
