OAKVILLE- Anthony V. Viltrakis, age 91, of Falls Ave., died Sunday at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington. He was the husband of Gladys (Laneville) Viltrakis for 56 years before her passing in May of 2005.
Anthony was born May 23, 1916 in Waterbury, the son of the late Anthony and Eva (Tacilauskas) Viltrakis and had been a lifelong resident of Oakville. He was a graduate of Watertown High School. Prior to his retirement in 1976, he was employed as a machine operator at the Oakville Pin Shop where his wife also worked for many years. Anthony loved music especially the "big band" sounds and especially loved to travel to New York to see as many Broadway shows as he could. He was an avid Red Sox and UCONN Basketball fan.
Anthony leaves a son, Gary R. Viltrakis of Harwinton, four grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son George Viltrakis, three brothers John, Joseph and Peter Viltrakis and four sisters Alena Viltrakis, Patricia Viltrakis, Mary Boudreau and Evelyn Volage.
Funeral services will be held on Friday May 2, 2008 at 9:30 am from the O'Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main Street Oakville to St. John the Evangelist Church, 765 Main St Watertown for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to visit at the funeral home on Friday morning from 8:30-9:30am.
