WATERBURY CT - Antoinette (Papianni) Keyes, age 94 of Waterbury passed away peacefully on Christmas Day, December 25, 2018 at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit of St Marys Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Robert Keyes.
Antoinette was born on February 10, 1924 in Waterbury the daughter of the late Vincent and Marie (Genova) Pappianni. She was educated in local schools and spent her years as a dedicated homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. Antoinette will always be remembered for her love of gardening. She always had a huge, bountiful garden, loved to can all of the produce and loved cooking and feeding her entire family. She not only loved to garden but she volunteered in many projects revolving around her love as Past President of the Waterbury Garden Society. She also served as secretary for the Cheshire Committee on Aging and she will be sadly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
She is survived by her children, sons, Rick Fernandez of Middlebury, Manuel Fernandez of Tarpon Springs FL and Robert Fernandez of Sarasota FL, her daughter, Julie Fernandez of Naugatuck and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She also leaves her forever friend, her dog "Bennie" who was her pride and joy. Antoinette's family would like to extend their personal thanks and appreciation to the staff and everyone at the Cheshire House for the wonderful care they shared with both their mother and family.
Funeral services for Mrs. Keyes will be held privately, at the convenience of her family with burial in her family plot in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. The O'Neill Funeral Home 742 Main St Oakville, CT has been honored to assist the family with arrangements.
