THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE CARING FOR AND ASSISTING THE FAMILY OF ARTHUR J. CAISSE SR.
WOLCOTT - Arthur J. Caisse, Sr, 100, formerly of Waterbury, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at St. Mary's Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband and widower of Monica (Batters) Caisse.
Mr. Caisse was born in Waterbury, CT, on March 22, 1918, the son of Arthur J. Caisse and Mary Gallager Caisse. He grew up in the Brooklyn section of Waterbury and went to local schools. During the depression, Mr. Caisse served in the "CCC" (Civilian Conservation Corps) and helped build roads and dams throughout Connecticut. After he married Monica, they had seven wonderful children and lived many years in the Hopeville section of Waterbury. Arthur was a postal worker at the Waterbury branch until his retirement in 1980. He worked at additional part time jobs to be a great provider for his big family. He will be missed so much. He was a proud U. S. Army veteran who served in World War II. Mr. Caisse was in the 5th Army, 45th Division when the U. S. Army fought and freed Rome from the German Nazis in June of 1944. Later, in August, now with the 3rd Army, he was wounded in France as the Allies were on their way north to defeat the German Nazis in the invasion of southern France. For his bravery and wounds, Arthur was an honored Purple Heart recipient. In battle he was sometimes the point-man of his unit, carrying a BAR. He was proud to be part of the Army and the Army had the ultimate soldier in him.
Arthur is survived by six children: his sons, Arthur J. Caisse, Jr., with whom he lived for many years in Wolcott, Charles E.(Ched) Caisse and his wife, Michele, John R. Caisse and his wife, Maria Julia, all of Waterbury, and Richard M. Caisse and his wife, Mari of Plymouth : his daughters, Judith LaMadeleine and her husband Norman of Wolcott, and Susan Trojanoski of Thomaston. He was predeceased by a beloved son, David. Mr. Caisse leaves many family and friends. He leaves fifteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren who loved him very much. They know that he is in Heaven with Jesus and Great Grandma. Arthur was predeceased by three brothers, Edward, Thomas, and Raymond and a sister Marie Sheehy, all of whom lived in the region.

Funeral services for Mr. Caisse will be held on Friday, August 17, 2018 when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Church 625 Baldwin St Waterbury at 9:30 a.m. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial with full military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with Art's family on Thursday evening from 5:00 till 7:00 pm at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home, 1987 East Main St Waterbury CT 06705.
