WATERBURY - Mr. Arthur G. "Art" Pryor age 81 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love and comfort of his family on Monday, September 26, 2016 at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit of St. Mary's Hospital. He was the husband of the late Gertrude "Gert" (Ouellette) Pryor.
Art was born in Waterbury, CT on January 23, 1935, the son of Arthur and Katherine "Kay" (Bagley) Pryor. He was a graduate of Sacred Heart Grammar School and High School and was employed for many years at Peter Paul Cadbury in Naugatuck until his retirement. For the past 18 years he was affiliated with Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home. Art was a sports enthusiast and coached boys basketball and baseball for many years at SS Peter & Paul School where he was an active parishioner. He was an avid Boston Red Sox and Celtics fan. He enjoyed spending winters in Florida and trips to the casino with his wife and friends. He enjoyed golf and was a regular at East Mountain. Most of all, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and brother. Art cared deeply for his family and friends. He always had a good story to tell and loved to make people laugh.
He is survived by his children, Denise Sturges and her husband, Howard of Middlebury, Michael and his wife, Cindy of Smyrna GA, Stephen and his wife, Karen of Cheshire, David and his wife, Cathy of Cumming GA and Brian and his wife, Ann Marie of Newark DE. He also leaves his brother, Roger and his wife, Sharon of Suffield. Left to cherish and honor his memory are his beloved grandchildren, Jennifer and her husband Rudy, Susan, Kelly, Kevin, Brittany, Amanda, Nicholas, Cassandra, Jaime, Brett, Maggie and Andrew and his great granddaughter, Amelie. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services for Mr. Pryor will be held on Friday, September 30, 2016 at 12:30p.m. when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at SS Peter & Paul Church, 67 Southmayd Rd. Waterbury. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to go directly to the church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with Art's family on Thursday, September 29, 2016 from 5:00 till 8:00 pm at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd. Waterbury.
