WATERBURY - Asela "AC" (Colon) Harris, age 74 of Waterbury, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit of St Mary's Hospital, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. She was the widow of David Harris.
Mrs. Harris was born on December 6, 1946 in San German Puerto Rico where was was raised modestly with 12 siblings by her late parents Claudio and Catalina Colon. She attended San German University in Puerto Rico and was an active member in her community. At an early age she moved to CT and began her manufacturing career at Century Brass. Asela's employment there spanned over 30 years and there is where she met her beloved late husband, David Harris to whom she shared a loving marriage for 40 years. Her kind heart touched many lives that she cared for during her second career as a home health aide. In her spare time, Asela enjoyed, traveling, crafts, gardening, cooking, helping others, trips to the casino, celebrating her heritage through dominoes, attending the annual Puerto Rican parades, shopping, antiquing at flea markets, and most of all spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Left to treasure and honor her legacy are her only beloved daughter, Gisela Lisa Medina and her husband, Javier, her sons; Andy Soto Mayor and his wife, Angela and David G. Harris Jr. Asela was blessed with five grandchildren; Carlos Rosado Jr, and his wife Francesca, Johnathan Guerrero, Eliasar Martinez and his wife, Brenda, Abagial and Alex Sotomayor, and the sparkle of her eye her four great grandchildren; Melanie, Scarlett, Carmela and Angelo. Asela leaves 5 living siblings in Puerto Rico, her sisters, Candy of FL, Margo of NY, and the youngest of her sbilings, Mary Colon and her husband June of Waterbury. She also several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and godchildren and cousins as well as many friends. Asela treasured her monthly lunches with her in laws; the Harris family.
Funeral services for Mrs. Harris will held on Friday, December 18, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd Waterbury CT 06705. Due to current restrictions in effect regarding the COVID # 19 pandemic, the service will be private for family members only. The service will be live streamed at the funeral home website page. Prior to the service, from 10 till 10:45 a.m. relatives and friends may visit with Asela's family in a walk-through visitation only. Burial will follow the service in Mt Olivet Cemetery.
