AT THE CASEY -O'DONNELL FAMILY FUNERAL HOME Waterbury ?" Mrs. Barbara Ann (Brodeur) Carrington, age 91, died peacefully Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at Waterbury Hospital after a brief illness. She was the widow of Raymond G. Carrington.

Barbara was born on May 11, 1918 in Ansonia CT, the daughter of the late Aime and Margaret (McCarthy) Brodeur. A life-long resident of Waterbury, she was a graduate of Leavenworth High School Class of 1935. She married her sweetheart Ray, in 1942 and traveled with him to various military bases throughout the South during World War II, until he was sent and stationed in the Pacific. She returned to Waterbury where she worked in support of the war effort. When her children were grown, she worked at Virjune Manufacturing in Waterbury for many years. An avid sports fan, she rooted passionately for the Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics. However it was Jim Calhoun's Uconn Huskies which occupied a special place in her heart, In addition to her love of sports, she possessed a lifelong love of reading which she passed on to her children. She was a communicant of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception for more than 50 years.


A devoted mother and grandmother, Barbara leaves her daughter Barbra Coyle and her husband John of Middletown, two sons, Mark and his wife Constance (Lainas) Carrington of Waterbury and James and his wife Sandra Carrington of Orange. Her former daughter-in-law Barbara Jean Carrington-Lawlor and her husband Edward played a special part in Barbara's life. She will be missed greatly by her grandchildren, Elena Carrington of Arlington VA, Michael Carrington of Waterbury and James Carrington of Watertown. She was predeceased by her only sister, Margaret Hunihan.

Funeral services for Mrs. Carrington will be held on Friday May 29, 2009 at 9:00am from the Casey-O'Donnell Family Funeral Home 1581 East Main St Waterbury to The Basilica of the Immaculate Conception 74 West Main St. Waterbury for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial follow in All Saints Cemetery, Waterbury. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday morning from 8 ?" 9am.
