WATERBURY, CT Barbara Jean (Cote) Conlon, age 85, of Peach Orchard Rd Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 4, 2013 at Vitas Innovative Care Unit at St. Mary's Hospital. She was the widow of Edward F. Conlon who passed away on July 5, 1989
Barbara was born December 17, 1927 in Waterbury the daughter of the late Edward and Catherine (Moriarty) Cote. She was a graduate of Waterbury Catholic High School and Post Jr. Business College and worked as a Secretary at Scovill Mfg, Francis T. Zappone Real Estate and the law firm of Brunnock & Cicchetti. Barbara was an active member of the Mattatuck Senior Center, where she served on the Board of Directors, a member of the Waterbury Triad and the Mill Plain AARP. Barbara truly enjoyed daily all the daily activities with her many friends. Barbara was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking, art, interior decorating, golf, bowling and swimming, family vacation on Cape Cod, traveling far and abroad but especially enjoyed spending time with her family and all types of family events. She was a volunteer at St. Mary's Hospital for many years. She was a very active parishioner of SS Peter & Paul Church where she was a member of the Madonna Guild, taught catechism classes and participated in many church activities. She was especially generous to the needy and even sponsored a poverty stricken family in India for many years.
Barbara leaves to mourn her loss and cherish her memory, two daughters; Rosemary Brown and her husband William of Middlebury and Susan McKenna and her husband Michael of Sharon CT, her 9 grandchildren, Robert, Jeremiah, Christopher, Katlyn, Kerry, Kevin, Cathy, Carah and Stephanie and one great grandson Milo. Barbara also leaves her sister-in-law Joan Margiotta and her husband William of Long Island. She was pre-deceased by two sons, Michael and David Conlon, a sister, Sally Hebert and a brother, Edward Cote.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Conlon will be held on Thursday July 11, 2013 when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at SS Peter & Paul Church 67 Southmayd Rd. Waterbury at 10:30 am. Those planning to attend are asked to go directly to the church. Rites of committal will follow in Calvary Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
