Loved spending time with her grandchildren
WATERBURY - Mrs. Barbara (Sampt) Iaiennaro, 86, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 24, 2020 at Beacon Brook Nursing Home, after an extended illness. She was the loving widow of Joseph Iaiennaro.
Mrs. Iaiennaro was born on November 4, 1934 in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Fritz) Sampt. She was educated in local schools, graduated from Waterbury Catholic High School and spent many years working in the banking industry, retiring from North American Bank in 2000. A longtime member of the Gilmartin Community Club, Barbara enjoyed dining out and shopping. She always had more than her share of coupons at the ready, especially for ShopRite. What was most important to Barbara however, was her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
Left to cherish her love and memories are her children; sons, Michael and his wife, Maria of Waterbury and Joseph and his wife, Margie of Southbury, daughters; Christine Iaiennaro of Waterbury and Lisa Morris and her husband, John of Plymouth, her brother Louis Sampt and sister, Ceil SantaBarbara both of Waterbury. Barbara was blessed to love and enjoy her 6 granddaughters: Kristina Calo and her husband Rob, Marissa Morehouse and her husband Jason , Katie Mucciacciaro and her husband Roberto ,Brittany and Alison Iaiennaro and Nicole Morris. Barbara especially enjoyed the title of "great-grandmother" to her 3 great grandchildren: Peyton, Madison and Nicholas. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, John Sampt.
Funeral services for Mrs. Iaiennaro will be held on Wednesday December 30, 2020 when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 74 West Main St Waterbury at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with Barbara's family on Wednesday afternoon from 12 noon till 1:00 pm at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd Waterbury. All guidelines and precautions concerning COVD #19 will be strictly enforced.
