Devoted wife, mother and grandmother
WATERBURY - Barbara Jean Morgan, age 78 of Waterbury departed to her heavenly home on Saturday, January 10, 2021 after a long and loving life and a brief illness.
This sweet and beloved woman was known for her caring nature and strong values and left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She was born on September 9, 1942 in Waterbury, one of two children to the late Frank and Alice (Gary Herbert Sr. She was educated in the Waterbury school system and received her Practical Nursing License with the State of CT in 1975. Barbara was employed with Lux Time, General Motors, NCDC and the State of CT to name but a few. She retired from the State of CT (Southbury Training School in 2001. She was a member of the Zion Baptist Church in Waterbury and a member and Past Worthy Matron of Calisto Chapter # 4 Order of the Eastern Star, State of CT, P.H.A. Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family and was the ultimate supporter of UCONN Women Basketball (Go Huskies). She was a master cook especially with that heart-warming soul food, loved to research her families ancestral roots and teaching family members about their lineage and traditions. She was a powerhouse of information and a beacon of love for family gatherings.
Left to honor Barbara's memory and legacy besides her husband Harry Wendell Morgan Sr are her two daughters; Rochelle and Seanda, two sons; Marc (wife Benita) and Sup M. Morgan and six grandchildren; Taylor, Marc Jr "JR", Elijah, Yael, Kikiyo Morgan and Jah'hi Aston as well as a host of sisters and brothers in law, cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her son, Harry Wendell Morgan Jr "Teddy" and her brother, Frank Herbert, Jr (June)
Funeral services for Mrs. Morgan will be held on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1987 East Main St Waterbury CT 06705. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the Morgan family on Tuesday evening from 5:00 till 7:00 p.m. at the funeral for a walk-through visitation when all guidelines regarding COVID #19 will be strictly enforced.
