WATERTOWN - Mrs. Barbara I. Magnuson, age 87, of Watertown, passed away peacefully on September 4th 2019 at Waterbury Hospital after an extended illness. She was the widow of Howard M. Magnuson.
Barbara was born January 27th 1932 in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late Roy and Mildred (Bradshaw) Hallock. She was educated in local schools and was a lifetime resident of Watertown. Barbara spent several years working at Harco Tool in Watertown and then later at J & J in Thomaston before becoming a loving and dedicated homemaker who devoted her life to her family. Whether she was cooking meals, cleaning, or doing mounds of laundry for their seven children, she always had a ready smile and her great sense of humor. She loved family gatherings, backyard picnics and traveling to visit out of state family. Playing penny slot machines at the casino with her friends and family was another fun outing. Barbara was always happiest while being surrounded by her loving family. She will be sadly missed by all who were blessed to have known and loved her.
Left to remember, cherish, and honor Barbara's love and legacy are her children; Howard Magnuson, and his wife, Connie of Thomaston, Brian Magnuson of Waterbury, Gary Magnuson of Watertown, Sharon Bares and her husband, Alan of Thomaston, Barbara "Barbie" Magnuson and her boyfriend, John Gladych of Morris and Brenda Scott of Watertown. She also leaves her siblings Joan Creem of Watertown and Beverly Quadrato of Oakville, half brother, Lee Hallock and his wife, Debbie and half-sisters, Karol Somes and her husband, Marshall, Janie Kimberley and her husband Robert, Lynn Lennon and her husband, Tom in addition to numerous grandchildren great grandchildren nieces, nephews, and other extended family member s and friends. Barbara was predeceased by her daughter Robin Chung, her brother Ross Hallock and his wife Anne, her half-brother, Sherman Hallock and half-sister, Wendy Pennington.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Magnuson will be held on Monday. September 9th 2019 at 6:30 pm at Calvary Baptist Church 3000 N. Main St Waterbury, CT 06702. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Evergreen Cemetery Watertown. The O'Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main St Oakville, has been entrusted to assist the family with the arrangements.
