Waterbury - Barbara J. McGeever, age 62,of Waterbury, passed away peacefully into Eternal Life on Wednesday July 31st 2013 at her home after a nine month battle with cancer. She was the wife of Francis K. McGeever.
Mrs. McGeever was born in Waterbury CT, the daughter of the late Wilbur & Aline (LeMoine) Pelletier. She was a graduate of Crosby High School's class of 1968 and Central Connecticut State University. She was a communicant of Saint Francis Xavier Church and enjoyed baking, quilt making, vacationing in Cape Cod and New Hampshire, and shopping. Her greatest joy came from caring for her family.
Barbara was a social worker for the City of Waterbury for many years. She was a psychiatric technician at the Behavioral Health Center at Waterbury Hospital for over 25 years where she was a strong and passionate advocate for her patients.
Besides her husband Francis of 38 years, Barbara is survived by her children Francis K. McGeever, Jr. of New York, NY; her daughter Kate McGeever of Oakville. Her brothers William Pelletier and his wife Anita, of Watertown; James Pellitier and his wife, Christine, of Middlebury; her father-in-law Frank McGeever as well as many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a brother David R. Pelletier and her mother in-law Nancy McGeever.
Funeral services for Mrs. McGeever will be held on Saturday August 3rd at Saint Francis Xavier Church 625 Baldwin St Waterbury to celebrate the liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:30am. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church. Rites of Committal will follow in New Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury.
