THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE CARING FOR AND ASSISTING THE FAMILY OF BARBARA ANN MCGRATH
WATERBURY - Ms. Barbara Ann McGrath, age 84 of Waterbury passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 19, 2018 surrounded by the love and care of her family and close friends at the Village at East Farm after an extended illness.
Barbara was born on November 27, 1933 in Waterbury the daughter of the late Raymond J. and Stephanie (Makonis) McGrath. Barbara was raised by her grandparents; George and Petronella Ezersky and was a lifelong Waterbury resident who was educated in local schools and was employed for many years as a licensed practical nurse at Crescent Manor in Waterbury. She was an avid golfer and bowler, loyal fan of UConn Womens Basketball and was very proud of her Irish and Polish heritage. Barbara was active in many civic organizations but especially proud of her "East End" roots and community. She enjoyed winters in Florida and she was a parishioner of SS Peter & Paul Church, Waterbury. She will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
She is survived by her nieces; Kathy McGrath, Karol Montagna both of Naugatuck and Karen McGrath also of Naugatuck who lovingly cared for Aunt in her final years as well as Kelley Harris of Prospect. She also leaves a sister, Patricia Ould of So. Windsor and her longtime friend and companion, Julie Turzo of Waterbury and Ft Lauderdale Florida. She also leaves several nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, John and Francis McGrath.
Funeral services for Ms. McGrath will be held on Tuesday May 22, 2018 at 10:15 from Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St @Southmayd Rd Waterbury to SS Peter & Paul Church 167 Southmayd Rd Waterbury to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the Lithuanian Cemetery, Plank Rd. Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with Barbara's family on Tuesday morning from 9:00 till 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home.
