WATEBURY - Mrs. Barbara Jane Niquette, age 63, of Haddad Rd. Waterbury, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, December 9th 2013 after a brief but valiant battle with cancer. She was the wife of Craig Niquette.
Mrs. Niquette was born March 7th 1950 in Pawtucket, RI, the daughter of the late Robert and Roseline (Duhaime) marshall. She grew up in the Milford area and graduated from Shelton High School before moving to Waterbury where she raised her family. Barbara had spent many years working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for area nursing homes and more recently had just received her L.P.N. degree. Barbara was an extremely talented and creative seamstress, she enjoyed gardening and listening to country music as well as cooking and reading but was always happiest when she was surrounded by her family, especially her 17 grandchildren. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Loreto Church.
Besides her husband Craig of 45 years Barbara is survived by her children; Matthew Niquette of Millinocket, ME; Lisa Ozga, and her husband Thomas of Waterbury, Jody Miller and her husband Brian of Harwinton, Jenifer Mancini and her husband Richard of Thomaston, Elizabeth Crouthamel and her husband Jack of Waterbury and Sandra Niquette of Torrington. She also leaves a brother, Norman Gagne of Glendale, AZ. , her sister, Jacqueline Martzinek of Pleasant Valley NY, her 17 grandchildren and one great grandchild as well as many nieces, nephews and in-laws. She was predeceased by her brother Robert Gagne and her sister, Judy Smolinski.
Funeral services for Mrs. Niquette will be held on Friday, December 13, 2013 when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am at Our Lady of Loreto Church, 12 Ardsley Rd. Waterbury CT. Those planning on attending are asked to meet directly at the church. Relatives and friends may visit with Barbara's family on Thursday evening from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Eastside Memorial," A CASEY FAMILY FUNERAL HOME AND TRIBUTE CENTER", 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd. Entombment will follow in the Queen of Peace Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury.
