Ms. Barbara Scott

October 1, 1937 — February 15, 2025

WATERTOWN – It is with profound sadness that the family of Barbara (Johnson) Scott, age 87, share the news of her peaceful passing in the comfort of her home that she built with love, on Saturday, February 15th, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Barbara was born on October 1, 1937 in Georgetown, CT, the daughter of the late Carl & Julia (Gustafson) Johnson. She was a graduate of Staples High School in Westport, and then pursued a successful career in real estate, earning her license and excelling at ER Griz Real Estate in Woodbury. Through hard work and determination, she became a highly sought-after agent, responsible for the sale of multimillion-dollar estates across Connecticut and New York. Her passion and dedication took her to the top of her field, where she was a renowned agent. Barbara had a love for music, which was a defining part of her life, she played the organ with grace and spent many joyful years singing in the church choir in Ridgefield, CT, her voice lifting in harmony with her faith. She had a deep appreciation for the arts and attended the theater, experiencing the magic of live performances over the years. Barbara fulfilled her lifelong dream of purchasing a beautiful estate where her family could be together, a place of love, warmth and cherished memories.

Beyond her professional success, Barbara found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She cherished the arrival of spring, tending lovingly to her flowers and spending time with her faithful dog, Loki. Evenings were spent watching two of her favorite shows, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy. Barbara would often indulge in shopping trips with her beloved daughter, particularly to H & M and Marshalls, which were moments that brought them both great happiness. She was a radiant soul; a woman whose kindness and love left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Barbara above all was a devoted mother to her beloved daughter Julie, and the cornerstone of her family’s world. She had a heart as generous as it was boundless, she gave everything she had to those she loved, always putting family first. “Mom, thank you for the beautiful life you gave me, for the boundless love only a mother could provide. It was always you and me against the world in those early years, and you remained my anchor, my best friend, my everything. My heart is shattered beyond words, and the world feels unbearably empty without you. I will love you forever, and you will forever be in my heart.” Barbara’s legacy of love, kindness, and strength will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know and love her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memories is her daughter Julie Belval and husband Michael of Watertown, CT and her niece, Debra Godbey and husband Daniel of Norwalk.
