Waterbury - Barbara L. Zastaury age 85, formerly of 2171 E. Main St., Waterbury, died peacefully Tuesday, March 30 , 2010 at the Paradigm Health Care Center of Prospect surrounded by her family. She was the widow of Raymond P Zastaury
Barbara was born April 27th 1924, in Somerville, MA, the daughter of the late Walter and Caroline (Wiley) Leman. She grew up in the Somerville area where she attended local schools before moving to Connecticut in the mid 1940's. She worked as a bookkeeper for A&P Food companies for 23 years before her retirement. Barbara enjoyed being at the beach and taking family vacations to Cape Cod as well as spending summers in Maine. Most of all, Barbara enjoyed being around her friends and family, especially her grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by three sons, Thomas and his wife Chrisanthy, of Waterbury, Raymond and his wife Teresa, of Bethany, Bruce and his wife Denise of North Carolina; her sister, Norma DiPaola of Maine, 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She is pre-deceased by her son David.
Services for Mrs. Zastaury will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Barbara's memory may be made to Special Olympics 1133 18th Street NW, 12th floor Washington, DC 20036-3604 the Casey-O'Donnell Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
