AT THE CASEY-O'DONNELL FAMILY FUNERAL HOME- WATERBURY Mrs. Bernice (Richmond) Killeen, age 77 of Rosengarten Dr. Waterbury, died peacefully on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was the widow of Michael B. Killeen Sr., to whom she was married to for 53 years.
Bernice was born on April 27, 1932 in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Frederick and Anna (Lynch) Richmond. She was a graduate of St. Thomas Grammar School and Waterbury Catholic High School and St. Mary's School of Nursing. She was a Registered Nurse at St. Mary's Hospital for more than 35 years. Bernice was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. A woman of strong faith, she was actively involved at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Waterbury in many capacities including their Prayer Group, Adoration Society and Ladies Guild. Bernice was an accomplished seamstress and shared her talents with family, friends and her church.
Mrs. Killeen is survived by two sons, Michael B. Killeen Jr. and his wife Jo-Ann of Coppell Texas and Kevin Killeen and his wife Marcia of Watertown; four daughters, Ann Hine and her husband Dennis of Big Pine Key FL, Patricia Geary and her husband James of Waterbury, Edna Geary and her husband Joseph of Waterbury and Mary Myers and her husband Edward of Morris Plains NJ. Bernice also leaves her sister, Mrs. Edna O'Leary of Waterbury and 14 loving grandchildren; Krista, Kerry Ann, Greg, Rachelle, James, Sarah Poulin, Sarah Geary, Caitlin, Ryan, Molly, Emma, Selia, Aidan, and Ciaran as well as several nieces and nephews. Bernice's family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Kert Sabbath, the staff at the Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center and the dedicated staff of Xavier 3 at St. Mary's Hospital for the personal and heartfelt care that they provided to Bernice throughout her illness.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Killeen will be held on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at 9:15AM from the Casey-O'Donnell Family Funeral Home 1581 East Main St. Waterbury to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 74 West Main St. Waterbury for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday from 4 till 7 pm.
